Hi everyone,
I wanted to make y'all aware of a unique opportunity that we'd like to fill
as quickly as possible.
Over the past two weeks, Claire Aiello from the Huntsville/Madison County
Chamber spoke at both our District Committee Meeting and Roundtable about
the upcoming *UCI Para-Cycling Road World Championships* coming to
Huntsville over Labor Day weekend (September 4-7).
One of the opportunities available is for Scouts to participate in the *awards
ceremonies*. Scouts selected would be in full uniform and would not only be
representing their unit, but also the Talakto District and Scouting America
on an international stage.
For the awards ceremonies, we need *4-6 Scouts per ceremony*, with an *equal
mix of boys and girls*. Scouts should be *13 years old or older* and able
to follow instructions, conduct themselves professionally on stage, and
represent Scouting well.
The preferred opportunities are *Sunday and Monday*, as those are the Road
Race days. These races and awards ceremonies will be carried on the UCI
YouTube channel, which has approximately *700,000 followers*, giving our
Scouts an incredible opportunity to be part of a world-class event and
showcase Scouting to an international audience.
This will be a *first come, first served opportunity*, and Claire needs
commitments by *Friday* before opening the remaining spots to other
organizations.
In addition to the awards ceremonies, event organizers are still looking
for *Course Marshals*. These volunteers must be *16 years old or older*.
