Troop 351,     I need to update you on our 2026 registration and dues process. Apologies for the long email…
BSA Registration     When BSA made the change last Fall to enable registration payments from the Troop and/or individual Scouts and leaders, tried to manage all payments through the Troop. We discovered it is a difficult and cumbersome process to make sure all Scouts and leaders are current with the BSA, Council, and the Troop, resulting in overpayments and refunds, Scouts accidentally dropping from the registration rolls, and other complications. Registration was $120 for youth ($85 national, $35 council) and $65 for adults.
The committee discussed these issues and we elected to make a change for 2026 to ensure no disruptions to scouting registrations or overpayments caused by delayed actions or communication errors. For all Scouts and Leaders receiving a registration/renewal reminder from the BSA, please make your payment online through the MyScouting.org website. This will ensure your Scout and/or leader remains registered with the Troop for the following year. As of now the BSA national Fee remains $85 per year and Council is $35 per year ($120 total).
Since a large number of Scouts and leaders were paid for by the Troop last December during recharter, I expect those notices will increase soon. Please plan and budget accordingly in advance of the holidays (though there is a grace period before individuals are dropped from the registration rolls).
Troop Dues     For the 2025 Scouting Year, Troop dues were an additional $300 to cover outings, advancements, and operational expenses. We do not plan to increase 2026 Troop dues and plan on keeping them at $300 per year. At the end of November we will reduce the subscription amount by $10 to offset the direct registration payment to $25 per month per Scout, since the Troop will no longer be paying the national/council fees on behalf of Scouts. If anyone would like to discuss financial aid options, the Troop can help with either registration and/or dues. We don’t want it to prevent a boy from participating.
We would like all Scouts to be current on dues by the end of January in order to participate in Troop outings afterwards (allowing families time to recover financially from the holidays). This means either enrolled in the monthly subscription, paid in full, or coordinated a family-specific payment plan with the Troop.
Eagle Scouts will receive a reduced rate for dues. Contact us directly to details.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions. General questions can be directed to our Treasurer, Cameron Smith or me, and financial aid questions can be directed to me.
YIS,

Rob Sleasman(910 988-0587
