We have several waterfront activities this summer. *Everyone *will need
swim tests. In order to avoid a long delay at summer camp, we have 2 more
opportunities to take the swim test this week.

Where: Dublin Indoor Pool
When: Wednesday 5/21 6:30pm - 8pm
-or-
When: Friday 5/23 6:30pm - 8pm

If you are unable to make one of these times, you will have an opportunity
at summer camp. These tests avoid the long lines at camp, and we encourage
everyone to take their test here first.

What is the BSA Swim Test?
*Swimmer:*
Jump feet first into water over your head.
Swim 75 yards in a strong manner - side stroke, breaststroke, trudgen, or
crawl
Swim 25 yards using the resting backstroke.
Rest at the end by floating.
This is 4 lengths of the indoor pool.

The resting backstroke is a relaxed, efficient way to swim on your back
with minimal effort. It's not the high-intensity elementary backstroke
often taught for competition, but rather a way to conserve energy while
maintaining forward movement. You can find information on this in your
handbook.

*Beginner:*
Jump feet first into water over your head.
Swim 25 feet on the surface.
Turn sharply and return to the starting place.

*Non swimmers:*
Anyone who has not completed a test in the last 12 months.
Nonswimmers must not be in water more than chest deep. This is indicated
by a nonswimmer area at summer camp. The water slide at camp is open to
nonswimmers.

Scouts that have not had the Second Class or First Class aquatics
requirements signed off, be sure to bring your book and get those signed
off.
