[Troop351] Talladega Campout

Here are the details for this weekend's campout at Talladega:

What to bring:

  *   The attached permission slip
  *   Uniform
     *   Class-A shirt, Neckerchief, and BSA shorts/pants. This must be worn while traveling and during flag ceremonies
     *   Class-B shirt(s) - while we're watching the races. If you need a Class-B shirt, please let me know.
  *   Parts A&B of the BSA Medical Form unless the one we have on file is less than a year old.
  *   Money
     *   The vendors inside the track are cashless, so if your scout doesn't have a debit card, you might get them a Visa gift card for the trip. If you have any concerns with this, let me know and I'm happy to help.
        *   Souvenirs
        *   lunch at the track on Sunday
     *   dinner on the way home (cash or card is fine)
  *   Hearing protection - it's not uncommon for people to wear ear plugs plus muffs
  *   Sun protection: hat, sunglasses, sunscreen
     *   During most of the day, we will have ZERO shade, and we see more sunburns at this campout than most others
  *   Personal camping gear including water bottle, mess kit, tent/hammock, sleeping bag, etc.
  *   Scout book in a waterproof bag (large Ziploc bags work fine).

Important Details:

  *   Arrive at Asbury's scout shed by 5pm this Friday
  *   Eat before you arrive on Friday, or bring something to eat on the way.
  *   The forecast currently shows partly cloudy all weekend with lows in the lower 60s and highs in the mid-80s. We might not have rain this year, but we usually do. Be Prepared!
  *   My cell phone number is 256-527-3599. Call, text or email if you have any questions before or during the trip. When the crowds arrive cell reception is generally terrible at the track for Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile.
  *   Be prepared to work on rank or merit badge requirements.
  *   Our arrival back into Madison has been as late as 8pm in previous years. We'll notify parents well ahead of our arrival.
