Troop 351 families:
I'm following up from our last Court of Honor regarding upcoming 2024
dues. Our Troop leadership reviewed the Scout's annual plan as well as
recent year expenses and concluded it will be necessary to increase dues.
This is driven by two things: dues increased at national level and cost
increases to food, gas, and incidentals associated with our activities.
We realize that family budgets are tight and you make a decision to
invest in your son's future via BSA. We do not take that lightly and strive
to give you the best value for the money we can. When compared to other
activities, we believe it is at least as good, if not better, than the rest
when you consider the leadership, self-reliance, and life-skill aspects of
the program. Annual dues cover all Scout expenses (except summer camp),
including awards and badges, as well as food and any fees associated with
our monthly activities (e.g., campsite rentals, etc.).
As in the past, we will offer two options for payment: electronically
via PayPal and by check to our Treasurer (Timothy Lang; tjlangco at gmail.com
<mailto:tjlangco at gmail.com> , 970-692-4783). Youth amount can be at a
monthly level ($35) or an annual one ($420). Adult amount is $60 which
matches the national amount. PayPal lump-sum payments or subscriptions can
be managed through https://bsa351.org/t351-home-page/join-the-troop/. If you
currently have an active subscription, you do not need to do anything; your
monthly charge will be increased automatically to $35 starting 1 December.
Eagle Scout dues will continue to be discounted at 50% for those who
are still Youth members and who achieved it before December 2023. I am also
available to discuss payment assistance with families needing it due to
financial hardship.

YIS,

Rob Sleasman
Committee Chairman
