This is the new signup for the camping trip rescheduled from two weeks ago. The old one is no longer valid, so please sign up again even if you did so previously.
We will return to the Sipsey Trail area of the Bankhead Forest on Jun 3-5 2022, for camping and backpacking. Please use the link above to let us know if you’ll be attending or not. This is one of the best trips we take throughout the year, so don’t miss out!
This trip’s events will be like last year’s. We will meet at the Scout shed at 5:00 and leave no later than 5:30 on the 3rd, set up camp that night, wake up, eat, break camp, and head out on the trail for between 6-8 miles of backpacking. Afterwards, we will either return to the original camp site or set up a new one (planning still underway) Saturday night. On Sunday we will wake up, eat, break camp, and either hike a short distance back to the cars or load the cars (depending on where camp was set up), and return to the Scout shed around 10:00 AM.
This trip will provide many opportunities to complete merit badge and rank advancement requirements, so plan ahead and make wise use of the time and resources. Although we will work as a team to take care of each other, the intent is for each of you to be self-sufficient by packing/carrying your own equipment (to include tent or hammock, food, and water) and by preparing your own meals. This is also a great opportunity for older Scouts to help newer Scouts improve their basic skills.
Please submit completed BSA Health Forms A and B (attached here) before leaving on the 20th.
