[Troop351] Camp Jackson Canoeing Outing

*It [might be] time to go camping!*



**** The weather is calling for lightning and storms Friday, Saturday,
Saturday night, and Sunday *** *

Getting rained on during a summer campout in Alabama is something for which
we can be prepared.  It could even be an enjoyable break from the heat.  We
can even take shelter from lightning.  However, considering the main
activity is canoeing and swimming, and a commitment to safety first, we
will postpone if the forecast does not get better.  * I will message again
between 06:30 and 07:00 tomorrow with a final call.  *



Review the roster for the outing this weekend (at the very bottom). Check
for your name, and let me know if we need to change.  Fill out
the permission slips (not attached yet).



We will be camping at Camp Jackson in Scottsburough AL. There is access to
a bathhouse with showers.


We will have the troop trailer to transport troop equipment and personal
gear.


We have several options for non-canoeing activities like hiking, fishing,
requirements, etc. so be prepared.



It is a great idea to look through your book and see what you need to get
signed off and be prepared to get it done.



*Cost: *Included in dues

*When:* Meet at the Scout shed 5:00 Friday -- should return 10:00 on Sunday.

*Gear Needed:*  Toiletries, flashlight, mess kit, sleeping bag ( s ),
mattress pad, scout book, note book, clothing, personal tent/hammock (no
sharing), water bottle, etc.

Towels, extra dry clothing and socks.


*Permission Slips:*  Permission slip that must be completed in order to
participate.  Will be sent out later and I will have copies with me.



*Health Forms:* Everyone must have an up to date part “A” & “B” on file
with the troop, part “C” is not needed.


*What to expect:*

Canoeing, camping, swimming, cooking, good times, etc.
Roster (see the groop me from Trevor regarding patrols and grub for this
smaller group)
